The Invisible Homebound: Setting Quality-Of-Care Standards for Home-Based Primary and Palliative Care

The National Home-Based Primary and Palliative Care Network, created by Christine Ritchie, MD with Dr. Bruce Leff from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, is the topic of this recent Health Affairs article. The current status of home-based medical care and the challenges facing the approximately four million adults who are homebound in the United States are discussed along with the network which aims to “develop an appropriate quality-of-care framework and a set of quality indicators for non-VA home-based medical practices”.
